ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING PROGRAMME
The programme focuses on studies combining Electrical and Computer engineering. The technological trends reveal that ICT sector is the fastest growing with annual growth rate of over 29%. Currently the sector is generating revenues in excess of 1.3 billion dollars per year. The current activities going on such as improving airports, mobile subscribers, standard gauge railways, TV and Radio, e- government, Tanzania of industries and extension of National grid to rural community will increase the demand of technician in this cadre. The programme will admit students with ordinary level of education with passes in science subjects. In order to allow for deeper knowledge and skills in Electrical and Computer the curriculum for this diploma programme will allow students to specialize in the areas of Electrical and Computer.
The Basic Technician Certificate in Electrical and Computer Engineering offers the learner basic knowledge and skills in Algebra and Trigonometry, Basic Technical Communication Skills, Basics of Electrical Engineering, Analogue Electronics, Domestic Installation, Electrical Measurements, Basics of computer Networking and Data Communication, Basics of Computer troubleshooting, Series and Matrices, Basics of Entrepreneurship, Microcomputer Application in Business, Engineering Materials, Digital Combinational Circuits, Modern Electrical Draughting, Basics of Operating Systems, Fundamentals of Computer Programming and Industrial Training
Possession of a Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (CSEE) with a minimum of FOUR passes of which TWO must be among the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics / Engineering science, Biology and Chemistry; excluding religious subjects
or
Possession of a National Vocational Award (NVA) Level III in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Mechanical and related field offered by VETA and a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least two passes.
